Hello Essays (335 words) - Stock Market, Financial Regulation
Hello Most of the companies that our group has invested in are in the areas of technology, retail, and medical. Some of the Technology companies include Apple (AAPL), Ali Baba (BABA), and Verizon (VZ). Some of the Retail companies include Nike (NKE), Google (GOOG), and Starbucks (SBUX). Some of the Medical companies include Rockwell Medical Inc. (RMTI), Salix Pharmaceuticals (SLXP), and BioCyst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX). We invested in these companies because theyre doing well and have looked very steady. Over the past few months theyve been increasing in value. The stock that I am describing is GoPro Inc. (GPRO). GPRO has been a very inconsistent and radical stock. Over the last few months it has peaked and hit its lowest points. Some reasons for this inconsistency include, Holiday Hype, a too-rich valuation, and increased short selling. If I could go back and change my investments, I would not invest in GPRO.I would introduce someone to the stock market the same way I was introduced to it. I would tell them to look up the history of it, and to get an account on thestockmarketgame.org. Stock prices go up and down depending on the amount of investors that buy and sell the stock. It can also rise due to investors selling their stocks at a higher price than what they bought them at. It would be very smart to invest in different areas of stocks! This is because if you have all of your stocks in one area and that area isnt doing well than neither will your portfolio or your returned profits. Something that I learned is that you should do more research on the company before you invest, doing this will help you make a decision on whether the company is safe to invest in or not.The stock market is a leading indicator for the GDP and economic growth because if it crashes or shows decline for a long period of time then the economy usually goes down or economic growth declines.

History of Gunpowder
History of Gunpowder Chinese Taoist alchemists were the major force behind the early invention of gunpowder. Emperor Wu Di (156-87 BCE) of the Han dynasty financed research done by the alchemists on the secrets of eternal life. The alchemists experimented with the sulfur and saltpeter heating the substances in order to transform them. The alchemist Wei Boyang wrote the Book of the Kinship of the Three detailing the experiments made by the alchemists. During the 8th century Tang dynasty, sulfur and saltpeter were first combined with charcoal to create an explosive called huoyao or gunpowder. A substance that did not encourage eternal life, however, gunpowder was used to treat skin diseases and as a fumigant to kill insects before its advantage as a weapon was made clear. The Chinese began experimenting with the gunpowder-filled tubes. At some point, they attached bamboo tubes to arrows and launched them with bows. Soon they discovered that these gunpowder tubes could launch themselves just by the power produced from the escaping gas. The true rocket was born.
